happy anniversary to us!

1 John 4:7 says "Dear Friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God.  Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God"  in verse 8-9  John continues to say "Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.  this is how God showed his love among us;  He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him."

Today is our 24th year wedding anniversary.  Yey us!  We are spending it in a Monday-ish kind of way, working from home because of covid....but reserving the right to celebrate next week when we take a little get-away for Roger's birthday.  With 6 kids and about 4 jobs between the two of us, we decided to just condense the celebrations.  I'll stay married to Roger for sure another 24 years plus  no matter if we  go out for dinner or dine in.  We have developed a capacity to throw down a serious meal right here at home after all this time.

1 John 4:7 was a verse we wrote on our wedding invitations because it mattered to me, that everyone we invited to our wedding understood that Roger and I were able to love one another because love comes from God.  Without God our love would have been shallow and selfish and worldy.....and would have likely not lasted.  The divorce rate for our age group is close to 50% of marriages I think.  The institute of marriage as gotten pretty watered down, loosly translated and it has lost its place of honor and reverence among the sacrements of the church.  That's sad.  But Love Comes From God.  God gifted Roger and I a love for each other that isn't always so glamorous or flashy.....we don't appear very successful in the eyes of the world.....except that we are known by our fruit.  We have planted, grown and harvested 24 years of fruitful marriage to bear witness to the truth that love comes from God.

Roger has been helping Jonah and Claire create their wedding invitations and it makes my heart so happy to see them side by side, working on the design and the font and the pictures...it is a model for how we will move forward as our children grow up, choose their own path and partner to share the journey with...and as we stand beside them and guide them through the weeds once in awhile, we will also keep moving forward as a couple.

Marriage is a blessing....and love is a gift.  Marriage is also hard work.  Love is also a reflection of a true and living God who deserves to be recognized for what was given so that we could live as we do, through him and for him and unto him every day until Jesus returns or calls us home.  September 21 is a day the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it.

Thank you, Roger Kredit, for asking 25 years ago.  It was such an easy yes to agree to do life with you.  There has never ever been one moment of one day where I felt regret.  You are a blessing and a gift to me.  Love you.

  1. A true friend who is also your spouse is such a treasure in marriage. You both are friends that work together to make what GOD has planned for your marriage to work. Be BLESSED.
