a little pause

Yesterday we celebrated an epic day for our family.  Isaac graduated from Dordt U in the morning with a buisness/construction management Bachelor's degree.  His was the class that graduated in the pandemic and did not get a real senior year or graduation.  We were pleased and surprised when he actually went to college buecause everything was so hard that year in 2020.  He did all 4 years and got his diploma and we are so proud!  Claire also walked the stage at Dordt U having finished her masters of social work degree....something neither Roger or I ever did.  She works in Des Moines as a mental health professional and God uses her to heal and love the hurting and the lost.  I'm so so proud of them both!

Jeremiah took off work to attend the events, as did our extra Kredit son Uriel, who loves to join in all of our family holidays and special events.  He and Jeremiah both did a year of college and then said it was enough and entered the work force but still honored and appreciated the accomplishments of Claire and Isaac.  That says a lot.

It says a lot about many things.  We can all find our own path, our own way.  We have freedom to explore and try and pivot and change courses whenever we need to.  We get to live in relationships with people who share different and similar livestyles, priveleges, interests and talents.  God created each of us uniquely to do things for His glory and goodness, and we have so many different ways to get there.  Isaac's sweetheart Paulina is still in school......trying to decide next steps and which path to take and her future is so bright.  She will be a blessing and an asset wherever she chooses and the entire group will be cheering her on, as well as her own family!  Grandparents came to support and affirm Claire and Isaac yesterday.

We all need a village.....we need the village to come to concerts and ball games and special days at school.  We need them to send birthday cards and and buy the fund-raiser cookies and show up for the pictures at all the things.  I am so blessed by my village.  I am so grateful that God allows me to be in relationships with quality humans.

Precious and Josiah were in school and didn't attend the graduations but it's ok.  They only have a couple weeks left until summer and need to do their things.  Our adult kids made sure to go to Josiah's soccer game today and Precious' vb games later.

Jeremiah has been living at home for the past 9 months or so, but is moving out today to a house in town to practice adulting at the next level.  It's not sad.  It is exciting.  He wants me to help him find recipes of things he would like to cook and have available for his work weeks and weekends.....and he isn't going too far.  We can still do some of it together.  Claire spent some time this morning sorting through legos to take back with her to Des Moines for her play therapy room with kids.....I decided not to go to vb tournament today.  I needed a day to breathe and maybe sit in my present space for a bit.  I want to acknowledge all the big and little things happening right now.  I don't want to brush it aside just yet.

I went to the garden store and got some herbs and tomatoes and pepper plants for the garden.  The next season coming is full of sunshine, sports, backyard relaxing and whatever else God wants to throw into the mix!
